Have I been blocked?

Hi, hoping for some advice from some tech savvy people......

Last week I sent an email to someone. It's showing in my sent items and I know they've definitely read it (they took action as a result).

Sent the same person another email yesterday and i got a notification that it was undeliverable. Clicked on 'send again'.
It's still not showing in my sent items folder so it looks like it will be undeliverable again (think it took about 24hrs for me to be notified last time).

I've sent test emails to other friends and they have received and the email is showing in my sent items.

Not sure if it makes a difference but it's a 'live.com' email address I've got and sending to someone with a gmail account (in case that makes a difference with what "undeliverable" means!

TIA Smile

Also in case it makes a difference this isn't about someone I'm dating that would be ghosting etc.
It's a legal matter with an ex partner. I'm not stalking/harassing - the emails were actually advised and proof read by my solicitor

It could be that their inbox is full. Do you have another way of contacting them?

liverburd1 · 29/08/2024 22:39

Ah it could be that I guess - just seems a coincidence.

I could ask my solicitor to write to them (she is helping me with other aspects of my divorce) but I'd hoped to keep this "minor" issue less formal

Makes no sense to have a solicitor write to them, just post a formal letter recorded delivery. A solicitor is expensive and won’t achieve much if your ex is pig headed.

Are you typing the email address each time or does it auto fill or you're responding on the same thread? Sometimes if you misspell the address it bounces back. Otherwise yes, blocking can be one of the reasons. Personal mailboxes very rarely get full, I've had the same gmail for 20 years and never even came close. Good luck with your case!

MayaPinion · 29/08/2024 22:45

Are you sure you have spelt everything correctly? No .co.uk instead of .com, putting a full stop in the name when there isn’t one, using a number instead of a letter, etc.?

liverburd1 · 29/08/2024 22:46

@Coldfinch thanks - that could be an option.

I was trying to resolve the issue amicably but if he's blocked me based on the 1st email, I doubt a letter would be any good (as he's not willing to communicate to resolve). So on that basis he's unlikely to respond to a letter?! I'd then be forced down the formal legal route anyway.

If I've not been blocked I could email again and/or send a letter

Thanks. Yes it's on autofill and I can see my email from last week in my sent items (email
Address is correct).

This follow up emails isn't in my sent items or drafts and I don't have an 'outbox' so it's frustrating that I can't double check them email address until I get the "undeliverable" notification.

All the other emails I've sent to other contacts are in my sent items so there is definitely something different about this one

Do you have another email address you could send from?

Coldfinch · 01/09/2024 12:47

@liverburd1

A solicitor cannot compel someone to reply. They have no power over anyone. A court however can, so if I were you then recorded delivery and copy what you send. Keep the receipt and apply to small claims court. Or find a McKenzie friend who can help with forms.

Save yourself some money.
