Hi guys but confused with life at the minute needed some advice. Currently separated from husband. We are not divorced but separated this is all quite fresh. We have a toddler together and right now I’m living with my parents me and husband used to private rent but I moved back in with my parents. He’s currently moved back in with his parents. Problem is my parents are selling up soon and I have to find somewhere to live. But I’m not working at the minute as I can’t afford childcare and this is my first time by myself as a single family parent. What options do I have ? Can I private rent ? Or do I go to the housing association I’m not sure. This is a really tough time for me right now all advice is appreciated ❤️

You need to apply for benefits and you also need to go to the council and apply for a house or flat.

As you're currently housed you might not be a priority until your parents are actually sold up and ready to move however to get the ball rolling you need to go down there first thing on Monday morning.

You can probably do it online, have a look at your local councils website.

You can private rent if you can afford to but you will struggle to get somewhere without an income. You need to apply for UC and contact your local council to see what may be available, be prepared though for the fact that if they are anything like our council you won’t have any priority while still living with parents as you are adequately housed.

Sorry your going through this, I don’t have advice but sending strength as im going through the same thing with a toddler. It’s rough :(

Apply for UC, they'll pay up to 85% childcare costs and also there's the funded hours that have now been extended so you should be able to get a job to pay rent? UC would help you with rent too.
