Freedom programme / domestic abuse

Hi everyone. I've been in an abusive relationship for 9 years. Have now left and reported my children's father. Have had lots of lovely mums on mums net recommending a "freedom" program and that my IDVA would be able to help me access it. I have been told my council doesn't offer this for free, I just wondered if there are any organisations or ways I can access this course as I feel I really need it but cannot afford it just yet.

Thank you in advance x

contact the council….tell them you want to be referred for ‘early help’ ….it should be free then…..it is with our council anyway…..you get a leisure pass as well which is a big help with entertaining the kids ( free swimming and other council activities )

Do you have a local woman's aid? They sometimes offer it for free

DontBiteTheCat · 17/07/2024 20:34

Women’s Aid.

You can do it online, I paid around £12 I think, but group is better if you can get to one.

Our local authority don't offer it at all so it would seem it's location dependent.

There are other programmes out there too like Gateway.

They will probably offer something similar. Lots of resource here - www.mycwa.org.uk/

@Pinkflowersxo can your IDVA help you talk things through?
