Foreskins - How do they work??

Flipperskippy · 14/07/2024 10:42

Help please ladies!

I am Jewish (although I don’t do much in the way of Jewishing…) and was married to my Jewish ex-DH from age 24-39. Am now 41. Prior to DH I had a few Jewish boyfriends.

I have never encountered a foreskin in real life!!

Now, I’ve been on the dating sites and been on a couple of dates with a nice man. Not Jewish so I presume he possesses this thing that I’ve never had to deal with before (although this hasn’t been confirmed. Not quite sure how to bring it up!). Third date coming up on Tuesday night, at his place for dinner, and it may well be that afterwards things might progress in a bedroom direction (I hope they do. I haven’t had sex since 2022).

I am a bit concerned though about what to do! My only knowledge of these things is from my occasional (shameful, I know) viewing of porn. But that’s literally it, and it’s hardly an instruction manual. Most of the men there seem to have no foreskin anyway.

It just looks weird to me! Does it move up and down like the visor on a motorbike helmet? It seems to disappear completely when the man has an erection.

I’m sure it’ll be fine but I guess I just would value any tips! Does the grip have to be different? Do I have to move it out of the way?!

I might fess up if we get going. But even so I’d like to be vaguely competent.

I have met a lot of penises and I admit I prefer a circumcised one by far. Both my husbands were (one due to religion and one due to physical problems in adulthood) and it's just nicer generally but unless a man has a really big one (unusual but possible) the foreskin will mostly retract when erect and you don't need to do much with it.

don't assume he won't be cut just because he's not from a background that does it. I found out that my dad was circumcised because it used to be very common in his social background (upper middle class white British) and many men have it done for medical reasons.

PP above with the offensive language is also not necessarily correct that the head will be more sensitive. I've never noticed any difference in sensitivity.

Is Yids an acceptable term? Not criticising you using it, genuinely wondering!

As deeply offensive as the N or P words. I suspect mischief.

Dustyblue · 14/07/2024 14:12

Reasonable question so I'm assuming this is legit.

Most of my male partners didn't have foreskins, 2 did.

When erect, not much difference. One difference I did notice was that the foreskin can provide an extra layer of slippy-slidy movement during PIV which can be quite nice.

I wouldn't waste much worry over it.

Thankyou. I didn’t want to straight out criticise the poster for using it, incase they themselves were Jewish and it is an acceptable term when used within. But I did suspect it was not!

And apparently it is quite common for babies in the USA to be circumcised just after birth, it is just the done thing and not necessarily for any religious reasons!

I once got into a heated argument with a (male) football fan at work. I was brought up to consider that the Y word is used as a derogatory epithet by antisemites. However some football fans use it as a term for supporters and players of a football team , "Tottenham Hotspur" He maintained that it is used by Spurs fans to refer to themselves and their players in a non-abusive sense. I said that not only me, but also the Football Association, Merriam-Webster, and Cambridge Dictionary all state that the word is "offensive". Sometimes, though, it is hard to get through to football fans, as they live in their own little world.

It took me several years before I was even sure whether the average penis I encountered was circumcised or not. Given a few more years and more guests to my party, I would say that it's very individual - dp's for example has the charming look of a hipster in a roll-neck sweater, and as he gets more interested the neck of the sweater rolls down without intervention. I've 'met' a few who looked more like a monk with a long loose cowl over their heads. I've met a couple for whom the foreskin is closely covering the whole head, and it's painful for them to attempt to roll it down.

These days I'm a fan of exchanging pictures and discussing individual configurations and likes/dislikes in advance. But if that'snot your bag, my general approach would be, when the time comes get down there and have a close look (tbh I'd need my glasses otherwise at my age) and touch gently while asking questions.

And as for the aesthetics- I hate the idea of pronouncing either circumcised or uncircumcised as 'looking better'. That's too like what proponents of FGM say. I just love penises.

Not everyone agrees with that. David Baddiel, the comedian, who is Jewish, told Sky News: "The vast majority of fans of the club, including those who self-designate as Y-words, are not Jewish and therefore have no right of 'reclamation'. What it will weirdly give succour to is the sense that Tottenham fans, rather than Jews, 'own' this race-hate word for Jews, a word that blackshirts painted on shops in the East End of London." Baddiel also criticised the definition offered by the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), which states: "A Jew. Also in extended use: a supporter of or player for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club." In its entry for "Yid", the OED has also added the further description: "British. In extended use: a supporter of or player for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club." I'm with Baddiel, and I consider that the OED's inclusion of the term in this way, and people's excusing it use, as examples of (barely) veiled or blatant antisemitism. Jokes about foreskins in a twist also. Grim.

When putting a condom on apparently you are supposed to pull the foreskin down so it’s under the head, before you roll the condom on.

You wouldnt put the condom on till erect surely, so the foreskin would not be visible

Oh give over. The idea that creepy dudes are hanging about on mumsnet waiting to trick unsuspecting women into discussing penis so they can get their jollies is so...provincial. There is free porn on the internet. And if they were - it would be such a niche and odd kink as to be totally harmless really. If OP was some guy wanking at the debate over whether Foreskins roll back or not so what?

My hubby's foreskin does not automatically retract when he gets a stiffy; it has to be pulled back manually.

a lot of foreskins are still visible (ie ‘half up) when the penis is fully erect?

My hubby's is still like a hood when he is 'up for it' and he likes it being touched... Also it can be pulled right back for 'special effects'.

OliviaRocks · 20/10/2024 20:28

I hear ya.

I'm west coast USA where it's very rare for a boy/male to be uncircumcised. I also have never seen an uncircumcised penis in person, and to be honest I am not a fan of Foreskins to begin with from what I have see on the internet. Both my boys were circumcised as babies, all the boys in my family are circumcised including brothers, father etc.

My advice is if you are not comfortable with foreskins, then don't commit to a guy who has one. Nobody says you have to.

MoneyMill · 20/10/2024 20:45

You Americans seem remarkably comfortable with guns but are petrified by foreskins!
I'm beginning to understand how you elect someone like Trump.

A different wanking technique I'd say and easier with foreskin than without. With, you can grip it and move forwards and back with the skin - so your hand doesn't move relative to the skin. Without, it's a lighter touch and your hand travels up and down so it helps to use lube to glide up and down. No need for lube with foreskin.
PIV, just the same either way.
