Tidied it from top to bottom, did all the washing, bought us a bread bin and chrome plate stackers as we have no cupboard space, hoovered every room ....did everything!

And she came before and after work everyday to get it done before we came back!!

Bet you thought I was going to say something bad didn't you?

treelover · 08/04/2008 14:31

thought youwere going to say she had spray painted the rooms neon pink, or black, or something

Osyth · 08/04/2008 14:32

If my mil did that I would be posting in the am I being unreasonable section to be miffed at interfering mil - I would hate that, I really would!

callmeovercautious · 08/04/2008 14:32

That's great - can I borrow her? Does she do Gardens too?

jumpingbeans · 08/04/2008 14:33

See we are not all crap

Disenchanted · 08/04/2008 14:33

Actully Im really grateful, Im not a 'tidy' person and it was getting me down... now its all been done I feel I can keep on top of it IYKWIM.

My lovely sister once cleaned my house from top to bottom when I went away, it was lovely coming back to it all clean, she even cleaned all the walls

mankyscotslass · 08/04/2008 14:34

Disenchanted, I have a good one too. I went away to my mums and came home and she had steam cleaned all my carpets, washed and ironed all the curtains and defrosted and cleaned the freezer!

LittleMissNorty · 08/04/2008 14:34

oh that's a lovely thing to do.....deserves a Sunday lunch

NorthernLurker · 08/04/2008 14:34

That's lovely - both for her for doing it and for you not getting cross about it. I would be thrilled personally!

Disenchanted · 08/04/2008 14:35

I bought her a card, flowers and choclates

Osyth... I tend to agree with you.

This is just the sort of thing my mother would do.... and it drives me up the wall!!! Mind you, my dad is a bit of an Alan Titchmarsh type since he retired and he sorted my garden last week... and credit where it's due, he's done a wonderful job!!

But, still, Disenchanted... glad you were pleased with it!!

Osyth · 08/04/2008 14:35

Oh gardens are a different matter, I would love fil to come round and revamp the garden.

Disenchanted · 08/04/2008 14:37

I used to get cross at her for doing it when I lived at her house, she would come in our room whilst we were out and stuff but TBH I was so depressed over all the washing Im just truelly grateful its all gone and I dont even mind that she emptied our bin full of ovulation and pregnancy tests and now knows that we are TTC!

Although was a bit when DH said she had said I am a 'washing squirrel'

Meaning I shove washing in palces to forget about it!

NorthernLurker · 08/04/2008 14:40

I think she meant well and it's really nice you can take it in that spirit and rejoice in the absence of all the piled up tasks I don't squirrel washing as such - I just construct the Alps with it in the bathroom........

worrybum · 08/04/2008 14:44

Lol at NorthernLurker. Same here with the ironing pile. In fact if I ever reach the summit I probably will find snow!

NorthernLurker · 08/04/2008 14:46

oh don't get me started on the ironing - what am I saying? Not even Kim and aggie could get me started on the ironing......

Disenchanted · 08/04/2008 14:47

Thats the thing, no more mountains! Now its all gone Im doing what I need to every day

Only downside is now we have to try and have a super tidy before she comes so all her hard work isnt ruined!

BexieID · 08/04/2008 14:50

Mine would most likey do the same!

CountessDracula · 08/04/2008 14:54

Did she find your rabbit

worrybum · 08/04/2008 14:57

Glad you can be happy that she helped. I would probably have taken it as interfering as still miffed about the time we went on holday 7 years ago after having new turf laid in garden. We only returned to find that her and FIL had only dug out and planted flower beds everywhere and not to our taste

doggiesayswoof · 08/04/2008 14:57

Ex-MIL once greeted me on my return from holiday with "oh - and I washed your dressing gown, it was looking a bit on the grubby side"

Right now though, I would love someone to do all that in my house. She sounds brilliant.

Disenchanted · 08/04/2008 15:01

CD I can only hope not!

Problem is its not just a rabbit, its a whole drawer of fun, including paddles and pink leather wrist cuffs

I really, really hope she didn't open the drawer,

OP posts:
worrybum · 08/04/2008 15:04

ROFL............sorry, it is quite funny. PMSL if she's bought you drawer organisers for that lot too!

fishie · 08/04/2008 15:06

of course she looked. how could she not?

CountessDracula · 08/04/2008 15:06

I bet you anything she did
she prob has similar
