We've been invited for a sleepover at my sister in law's house. However, she's asked that we bring sleeping bags and pillows for my two children which I find very odd. They live in a big house with plenty of space and live comfortably so it's not that they don't have spare bedding. My husband says that that's the way they were raised but they've stayed with us and I've never asked them to bring anything! And when I've been invited to other people's houses I've never been asked to bring bedding. My husband is furious because I am upset about it so that I don't want to go anymore. Am I being unreasonable?

The kids will probably love a bit of indoor camping, but I agree if they have space this is a bit odd. Try not to stress about it and go and have a nice time. Next time they stay at yours remind them they need supplies !

Yes YABU. Jesus, she hasn't asked you to bring a tent and sleep in the garden! My family frequently offer to bring bedding or sleeping bags so they save us having to change bedding and wash it all etc.

What's your issue? It's so weird to have an issue with this.

She doesn't want to risk wet beds?

My children are older, so no risk of bed wetting. We don't stay with them often at all. Last time it was 10 years ago. So it's not like we do it often and they're tired of washing bedding for us.

I’ve been known to take my own bedding when house or dog sitting.

I want to spare my hostess a full linen basket and quite honestly I prefer the scent of my own bed linen which is always dried outside. Strange but true.

I’m sure the kids will love the novelty of sleeping bags. It’ll be fun.

Op if she's only asked for sleeping bags for the kids and not you and your hubby could it be possible she just doesnt have enough for everyone. Having bedding is one thing like sheets but I certainly don't keep quilts and pillows as extras. That's probably the actual reason she's asked. I'm not an inalws fan at all and I'm always ready to call them out but this isn't anything to be upset over.
