Asking for a friend since she doesn't use mumsnet.
She slept with her ex boyfriend about 4 weeks ago who told her he had contracted chlamydia but that he had taken the antibiotics for it, he didn't go into detail over what type of antibiotics they where how long he took them or of if he had been tested again after taking them, so not sure if any of that information would be relevant. However when she has done a postal sti kit the chalymdia result came back inconclusive and she's been asked to retest, could it be possible to have caught it from him if he had taken all of the antibiotics correctly??? If he had tested as clear is a reinfection possible?

Maybe she got it from him when they were still together. Before the one night stand. He could have cheated in the relationship.
(I suppose, vice versa too).

Regarding the antibiotics, we have no way of knowing. But if the creep can't give her a clear answer on when he took them, what he took, how long for etc... then chlamydia is a small price to play to finally get it through her skull to stay the fuck away from this asshole. Or at the very least, always.use.protection.

Retest and get it sorted. It's not the plague. She'll be fine. But probably needs therapy to address why she went back to this loser.

Re-testing after treatment (Test of cure) isn't done as standard anymore, excluding specific circumstances (pregnancy for example).

sorry, edited to add that TOC isn't done anymore because the antibiotics are effective in clearing the infection when taken properly, in the vast majority of cases.

She can't predict the sexual risk profile of her partners. She can't control other's behaviour or sexual histories but she can protect herself by keeping up to date with her own screenings and using barrier methods of contraception with new sexual partners until both have clear screens and are monogamous.
