Your boyfriend needs to decide which relationship is most important to him- with his friend or with you. If he feels maimtaing his relationship with his friend is a priority and you feel that is affecting the relationship between you and him then what is the point in you continuing you relationship with your boyfriend?

Psychoticbreak · 13/05/2024 17:17

How long are you together and why does his friend want you to split up?

Be specific. List what they have actually done.

Yes I think more context is needed
Is this a jealous ex he's stayed friends with ?

Revelatio · 13/05/2024 17:22

Difficult to say. I know a few friends who whilst not actively tried to split their friend and boyfriend up, have been honest and said they didn’t like them (the boyfriends were not very nice people). I think it depends on the situation, but sounds like you and your partner aren’t on the same wavelength and that’s not conducive for a relationship.

Is this 'friend' male or female?

@LilacQueen08 so how long are you with the boyfriend and what does the friend not like about you?

spannered · 13/05/2024 18:18

Context is required here.

If your partner confided in them about some unpleasant behaviour on your part, and they told him to leave you, YABU to try to force him to end that friendship when the friend is looking out for your partners best interests.

If your partners friend made a fake dating profile of you in an attempt to make it look like you're cheating on him, then the friend is a threat to your relationship (and unhinged).

There's a spectrum here of what's reasonable and what isn't, but generally, when partners try to come between each others friendships, it's a bad sign.

Bambinomino · 13/05/2024 18:20

Depends what the friend did and why.

How long have you been together?

Babybreath · 13/05/2024 18:21

Definitely more details needed.

It could be that he is the Alpha male in the friendship and doesn't want your dp to have something he hasn't.

Or he likes deliberately ruining things, in the way a bully might behave.

Or the friend has an extreme dislike of you for some unknown reason.

Or he fancies you and is either trying to hide it from your dp by saying he dislikes you, or he wants you for himself so is trying to split you up.

Or he could just be an arsehole.

Take your pick
