Analysing my boyfriend

I’m a 20 yr old girl writing this on mums account. Hope that’s okay.

I had a boyfriend, same age, since Xmas. We started talking last October.

we live an hour apart and he came to see me once a week or thereabouts, he never initiated doing much so it was Netflix and chill. Then I might see him at the weekend once too if we went out and met up. (Me with my friends him with his). He never seemed overly bothered about seeing me so I was surprised when he asked if I would be his girlfriend. He’s always quick to reply to my messages and buys me drinks/food if we are out and told everyone I was his girlfriend and I met his family quite quickly.

fast forward to today, I /we broke up. He hadn’t been to see me for a month (we had met at the pub twice but with friends and didn’t spend that much time together). I said what’s the point and he agreed we should break up- no fight in him. But he’s txt me like normal since?? None of our mutual friends think he’s acting bothered? I’m sad :(

what’s your take on this? Was it the right thing to do? Help!!!

It sounds like you were friends who fell into a relationship which you realised didn’t work because there wasn’t enough there, so he is assuming you will carry on with the friendship you had before. It’s a lot maturer than ghosting you which seems to be the other alternative.

Thanks for your reply. We had never actually met until October then we started snogging 😂 when out before progressing to him coming round and asking us to be exclusive.

Some people want to have their cake and eat it.

Perhaps he wants to remain friends.
Or perhaps he wants the relationship benefits without the relationship and thinks you're up for that. If you're not, tell him. He's not psychic.
