Potential mortgage fraud

Hi all

My partner took out a mortgage of 700k almost 2 years ago and it was approved. However, things are getting bitter between us and I know that to get the mortgage approved, he provided evidence of income that was not genuine.

Can I go to the bank now and ask them to look into it? I don't think I can progress with the relationship with this doubt in my mind that he committed fraud.

I’m struggling to understand how he gambled £700k mortgage away… the money would’ve never touched he bank account when he bought the flat??

A judge isn’t really going to care about fraud. They care about things which affect ability to parent such as domestic violence and addictions.

Get out OP. Well don’t for not marrying him!

I've come back this morning to say similar to others. He hasn't necessarily gambled £700k but he clearly views this as his money to manage/spend. If you find yourself needing UC to survive solo, there are payment elements for childcare and housing. The future is not as scary as it looks. He's an unreliable partner. You'd actually be more secure on your own by the sound of it. You might be able to transfer the tenancy to you alone. You can declare yourself separated whilst under one roof and apply for UC, Child maintenance, etc but you must keep finances, groceries, cooking, laundry and sleeping separate. Forget about £1 million flats. That was never yours and may never even help your children if he does gamble.
