Dad's who regret discarding their children for a new woman

'Discarding' may be a bit harsh, but I often wonder if my ex husband has any regrets that he's missed out on so many events in our kid's lives over the last 8 years, since he left the family to be with his 2 month affair partner.
He still sees our adults kids (maybe for a few hours a month) and they love him, but as a mother, I could NEVER begin to imagine just jumping ship and leaving my kids to live a new life.
Just to add, I am totally over my husband and not bitter. I simply wonder how men seem to find this change so easy, despite hurting their children?
Anyone with any stories?

My exh and I actually had an amicable split when the dc were 12 & 13 and things were rosy for the first year. That was until he met somebody else and the dc became last on his priority list. Now 8 years later and a lot of water under the bridge my young adult kids have decided to cut him out of their lives. The ex feels he is the victim here and has been an amazing father - he refuses to listen or accept how they were made to feel. I actually feel really sorry for him losing two brilliant kids from his life but I could see him digging his own grave years ago. Oh course it is all my fault and I have turned the kids against him, which could not be further from the truth.

My ex moved abroad when the children were 3 and 5. He saw them once a year, sometimes not even that, and once went 2 years without contacting them - seemingly he thought that it was their responsibility to do so ( they were adults at the time) . They have little to do with him, the eldest is polite and speaks to him every couple of months, the youngest doesn't bother at all.
His loss. He doesn't seem too bothered, he married for a second time and has no children, he prefers it that way.
