Am I wasting my time?

First time posting, long time reading!
I always read other threads when I need some advice but I've had a lot of mixed messages on this one.

I've been dating my partner for five months and he is a lovely guy, kind, generous, but he never seems to have time for me, he is a workaholic, will work up to seven days a week, full days and when his off has his children.
We tend to see each other once a week but we don't do anything special and he will come to my house after work at 8/9 then be gone before I'm up to go back to work!
Am I kidding myself that this is going to work? Or is he just not that into me

It wouldn't be for me, a relationship consisting of spending a few hours a week in your kitchen and bedroom, it's no effort (or cost, sorry OP) for him. If you wanted some casual fun, no strings attached then it might suit, but to me the current setup is not a partner or boyfriend, just a hook up once a week. Realistically how is this going to develop if you spend no real time together, don't do days out, no meals out with friends or family, where is it going? I would also be second guessing if I was the only woman in his life, but I may be judging on my own past experience with a "workaholic" man.

Hmm this is what I thought, it hasn't always been like this, he made some effort in the first months and we were going to the cinema, dinner etc but it seems like his stopped putting that effort in? And it's getting gradually worse.
It's not like I'm a hook up either as his not always that interested in sex

Your time in precious. Invest it in someone who actually gives you a return. Not someone who just ticks the box of bare minimum.

however, that being said, you may find talking to him first, see how or if he changes. If not then you know what to do

He's not worth your time. I'd move on.

It’s hardly a relationship if you only see him for a few hours a week and he’s big interested in sex.

My gut reaction is he’s met someone else and keeping you as his back up plan
