I'm leaving my husband. Married for 4 years, together 15. Two DC. 1 and 11.

He owns the house, we each own a car, I own mine outright. Seperate savings. He earns 70k me 30k.

What do I need to consider/get in place before leaving?

Why are you leaving, it’s your home too?

OP - in UK law anything under 5 years is considered a short marriage. Could you hang on a bit longer to make it over 5 years?
Long vs short makes a difference on financial settlement.

I presume you contributed to the family over the 15 years by raising your child/children, working and making a home. So you should benefit from full protection of marriage.
If you wait a bit longer - plus your solicitor can argue that relationship is longer than the marriage - you can get closer to 50% of assets. As you should in your situation, i think.

Seamless cohabitation counts towards the length of the marriage for divorce purposes…

Do you have access to the financial paperwork? Take copies of payslips, bank statements, mortgage details, pensions etc if you can

Get a solicitor. Even in a short marriage but long relationship plus children will mean you are entitled to more assets than you think, including pension.
