Alcoholic ex won't pay child maintenance but has income - any way to find out income?

My ex is an alcoholic (same-sex, we have one child with additional needs, I do all childcare in my own). This is why I had to leave 3.5 years ago.

She refused to pay child maintenance until I made a claim - then a year later she went off sick because of her drinking, and eventually her sick pay ran out and the CM stopped.

She's no longer drinking (for now) but it looks likes she's never going back to work aged 50. She labelled her drinking "depression" and I think her work may believe this label, and have her off sick long-term for this reason.

I know she has income protection insurance which will be paying her around £60k if she's found to be unable to work on medical grounds. She may also have a large medical retirement pension. How on Earth do I make her pay a contribution? CMS have been fairly crap, I can't imagine they would be able to find out about her insurance. Is there any way to get proof?

I'm in a part time low paying job because of my son's needs and I am becoming consumed with anger over this. She sees him for a few hours most Saturdays and splashes her cash around on treats, meals and activities for him. It's good she's seeing him again after a long break but it feels so wrong we are left struggling financially.

I found CMS to be crap also, until I involved my MP. I had a dedicated MP referrals case worker on my case within a few weeks.

Edited to add: one of the major problems with CMS is they seem to only treat taxable income as income for maintenance. In my case, I wanted them to tell me if i could transfer his share of the house sale proceeds to them to offset his £££££ in arrears. The answer was no, so instead I told him to take me to court for it knowing a judge would likely side with me given he legally owed the money. He signed an agreement that I could keep it so he could receive the couple of grand left over after maintenance arrears had come off.

I am tempted to tell her that I will go to court to get an order for disclosure of her income, unless she starts paying again. I actually don't think it's possible to get a court order like this, unless you are in divorce proceedings - but the threat might be enough
