Moving away from family

Hi Guy's

We are considering moving from Cheltenham Gloucestershire to Witney in Oxfordshire which is a area My Husband is from.
He works in this area and would mean a short commute so more time at home. Currently out the house 5am till 6pm :(
His Parents live only a 20 minute drive away from Witney. They adore Our two children 18 months and 4 weeks and visit Us most weekends. I have great relationship with My mother in law and I regard Her as more of a friend.
They are so excited at the idea of Us moving closer and will help and want to be involved in the Children's life day to day. They have even offered to look after them so I can go back to work once My youngest is older.

My Sister who I'm very close with lives in Cheltenham and is devastated at the idea of Us moving.
My Parents live in the Forest of dean and were equally upset about the idea of Us moving. Because of this I'm hesitant to move as I don't want to upset them.
My Sister comes over once a week as She isn't working currently and My Parents every few months. Having 2 under 2 the help and company from My Husbands family would be wonderful.
I'm not sure how I can make it easier for My family if We move?
Thanks in advance :)

Isn't that less than 30 miles?

I mean it's not far. I think your family are blowing it out of proportion. It's not like you're moving to Scotland.

Really though you need to do what's best for you and your nuclear family (that's you, your oh and your children only), anyone else's opinion is exactly that: an opinion not a say.

Things change and life moves along! You can't hold it back because your parents will get upset. I bet that if you go ahead with the move that suits your family, soon enough everyone will come round and agree it was the Best Move Ever,

My son moved to NZ with his job.
I got used to not seeing him
Yours are in the same country and within a 2 hour drive

I moved from North Africa when I was 19 because it was what was best considering my circumstances.
It was a bit tough at first but we all got used to it and we have our new normal now

Gloucestershire to Oxfordshire is no distance - I don't get why it would be an issue for anyone. Most people I know live a good 2 or 3 hours drive from their parents (which, incidentally, seems to contribute to a healthier dynamic, as they aren't living in each other's pockets). Just go where is best for you, OP, and put in a few boundaries with family members.
