Bingo thread for anyone who wants to guess DH's reply to this text I just sent ...

DH ironed a shirt at about midday and then went to work. He left the iron on the side in the kitchen.

I just sent him this text "Just found the iron still on and plugged in!".

What do you reckon he'll reply?

10 out of 10 points for anyone who guesses "oh no! I'm really sorry" or similar.

Well I hope it isn't still on

Oops makes a change for me to forget

Beaverbridge · 10/12/2023 20:30

I, ll go for, Did you switch it off?.

Caterpillargirl23 · 10/12/2023 20:30

Doesn't it automatically turn off after a period of time?

MrsMorrisey · 10/12/2023 21:07

" is it any worse than the day you left the front door unlocked?"

mrsm43s · 10/12/2023 21:12

I'm a bit confused as to what you want to achieve by texting him? It's fairly obvious that it was an accident and not intentional, and he doesn't have the ability to go back in time and switch it off 8 hours ago. We all make mistakes.

Personally I'd have just switched it off, and then carried on with my life without giving it another thought.

If my DH had texted that to me, my response would be "Whoops, can you switch it off please", so I'm going to guess his response will be similar.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 10/12/2023 21:14

Something about hair straighteners, the hot tap in the bathroom or the oven.

ThankGoditsChristmas · 10/12/2023 21:15

The pessimist in me "Maybe if you ironed my shirts like you're supposed to, then this wouldn't have happened"

More than likely ...
"Oops"

Yes, all fine. However, if I'd done it my DH would definitely have sent a text to let me know. He's still going on about how I left the central heating on when we went out the other night. I left it on, not him, because I was the one who put it on in the first place.

Also, I want him to have it fresh in his mind so he doesn't do it again.

So you try to get one up on each other to be the superior one with these silly little games? What an unhealthy relationship and miserable existence for your both.

SheilaFentiman · 10/12/2023 21:22

Um, we text each other this sort of thing, not to one up but to remind not to do it again!

IthinkIamAnAlien · 10/12/2023 21:25

"I'm sure I turned it off".

Bernardmanning · 10/12/2023 21:55

I think that he would have replied that "But I left it on standby mode", or "at least it saved some money on heating".

Terfosaurus · 10/12/2023 21:57

"It's not my fault I had to iron my own shirt"

SusanKennedyshouldLTB · 10/12/2023 21:57

Im suggesting no reply as he ironed his own shirt didnt he. What more do you want!

(ive been out this evening. Dh has done all the ironing, not just his own).

Ellmau · 10/12/2023 22:09

"It's on standby".

Princessbananahamock · 10/12/2023 22:14

You should have reminded me I need to turn it off. (aka you should have mind read me knew I couldn’t do this with my humongous male mind , when I have more important things to thing about , like myself and text me numourous times to tell me this)

I’ll buy you one with auto cut off for Christmas. ( as I am man you female. You need to remind me to do (( as above))

or he may have said “yeah and we’re insured, I will not let an iron be the end of me and leave you on your weak and feeble womanly own. I’m a male with glorious purpose.
Bask in my glorious presence and being!

comedycentral · 10/12/2023 22:17

Has he replied yet? 😄

HarrumphryBogart · 10/12/2023 22:22

Weren't you about to use it? I thought you'd be straight on the rest of the ironing after seeing me doing my own shirt for work again so I left it on for you.

Ardith · 10/12/2023 22:30

“Oh no, call the police!”

”I didn’t leave it on.”

”It wasn’t me?”

”And yet, life goes on…”

determinedtomakethiswork · 10/12/2023 22:30

Grendell · 10/12/2023 20:19

"I'll buy us one with an automatic shutoff for Christmas."

I will buy you one…

Wendyspotatopeeler · 10/12/2023 22:35

Ooops

messybutfun · 10/12/2023 22:39

It didn’t have on off-switch!

Seriouslynonono · 10/12/2023 22:42

'I left it on for you love'

Notcookie · 10/12/2023 22:44
