Leaving a 30 year relationship

I'm about to embark on ending a 30 year relationship. We have lived in the same house for 28years and had 2 children.
We after 2 years of being together looked at houses and naively I didn't think as i was giddy with the excitement of living together and starting a family, that he bought the house and put it in his name and paid the monthly repayments, I worked full time till I had the children and then I became the home maker till they went to school and then worked part-time and full time. my money was used to clothe and pay a some of the bills.
Anyway Without going into too much detail I just want to hear from anyone who has done the same and any advice you could share like do I need to go to a solicitor to settle what's mine and his or because we are not married am I basically worthless?

See a solicitor. It's not as clear cut as "you get nothing" - you may be able to extract some value from the house if you can prove a beneficial interest.

Ok thank you 🙏

Op I have a similar situation although I'm only 13 years in.

It's awful not knowing where you stand! I'd see a solicitor as you have been living together as though you were married for a very long time.

In my case I'm entitled to nothing legally and would have to fight to get anything but I'm digging my heals in as to not allow him to see me and the kids walk out with nothing. Originally I was going to allow that, then the lovely MNers changes my mind.

Fight for what you deserve!

It’s so difficult isn’t it, I know I will lose a huge amount financially but although money is a huge help it doesn’t bring happiness..I wish you all the best..
