Or who has an alcoholic family member or friend.

In my case it's my husband. Yesterday I had to throw out a piece of furniture he fell into and broke when he came home. He pissed the bed and all over the rug.

A few months ago I was getting fresh linen from the bottom of the chest of drawers and it was damp and smelled really strange. He had obviously pissed in the drawer when he last went on a bender. I only realised yesterday when changing the bed sheets what that was.
He's done this one time before into an empty mug on the bedside table. The shame was enough for him to stop drinking for a couple of months but he got right back at it.

He's too hungover to go to work. He's sitting around the house feeling sorry for himself today.

I'm already planning on leaving. Theres no love anymore. I just need to vent. I have people to talk to in real life but they all know H well and I don't feel comfortable telling them what truly goes on.

@Fleetheart I seriously doubt he would. I think he'd give a half arsed attempt at supporting me but his patience would have wore thin a lot quicker than mine has.

@Daleksatemyshed I hope for a happy update soon. I'm doing everything I can to make the break up as quick and painless as possible.

@AdviceNeededForMe Of course you can! The more the, miserable-er? I hope your weekend goes as expected xx

@pointythings Thank you. I can see he is in denial about relationship ending but the thing that gets me, is that he does know he has a problem. And he does know how much affecting us, but he doesn't care. Doesn't care enough to do anything to change. I suppose it's the addiction. He has drank again tonight after work.

@Andante57 Thanks. I plan on having a look when I have more time over the weekend.

Joining thread in support.

Living with an alcoholic spouse drives you round the bend. Save yourself and your children, because you can’t save the alcoholic.

@LosingTheWillToLive234 I had a conversation with mine, just about 2 years before it all finally crashed and burned, in which he admitted that he had a problem with alcohol. Then he said that he was OK with that.

He couldn't understand why I wasn't OK with it.

My soon to be ex husband is also an alcoholic. I applaud you for finally having the strength to leave. Mine completely destroyed our lives. There’s always a final straw. Leaving is hard I know but not having to worry about when or if he will relapse again wont be something you will have to worry about again. They have to want to be sober and they have to want it for themselves, not for anyone else. They always say they have to hit rock bottom. With mine though, rock bottom just continued getting worse and worse. Good luck to you and be safe!!
