Does anyone else have a Mother where they can just hear the tone that this might be said in? If you know, you know. Anyone able to relate?

No, sorry. I'm always away for my birthday. It's MY birthday after all.

Yes! And it makes me feel guilty every time.

Yes, I got this for spending Christmas day two years in a row with my in-laws instead of alternating it with her. Fil was dying and we knew it would be his last Christmas and then the following year was Mil first Christmas without him. Apparently it was not fair.

My mum does this.
She questions most of the decisions I make in life in this rancid tone of voice. Then I ask her why she's being passive aggressive and she innocently says" well I was just asking a simple question... I won't bother asking anything from now on..." 🤔

Oh yes - rancid tone of voice is the perfect description. I could feel the disapproval coming through the phone. Oh, and of course it's a massive inconvenience for her, because now she'll have to 'pop round' to drop a card through the door before we go away.
