Difficult relationship with sister

So me and my sister (both in our 30’s) have had a falling out she blocked me from my nieces phone for absolutely no reason no one else in the family just me. She buys birthday & Christmas presents for 2 out 3 of my children and completely leaves one of them out although she buys for all my other nieces and nephews I just got fed up of being hurt by her actions do just stopped speaking to her. But now I feel like my mam is caught in the middle on any family days I don’t attend if my sister is going and I think it’s getting my mam down. Not sure how to fix this divide in our family

Is there a reason why she leaves one of your children out? Has anyone else in your family noticed this and called it out?

I mentioned how upset it made me feel to my mam who then mentioned it to my sister. She just shrugged it off and said she was too busy on his birthday. My mam has 8 grandchildren and they’re only 1 of my sons that my sister leaves out. I don’t know if I’m being over dramatic about it I just don’t know how anyone can do that.

Has she ignored his birthday repeatedly or was it a one off?

Just once she was apparently too busy. Not busy enough to miss birthday parties though

Just once? Seems a bit OTT if that's the case. I can't keep up with all my nieces and nephews birthdays. May have been a genuine mistake?

Maybe it was a genuine mistake but had that of been me I would have apologised and sent a card asap not shrugged it off as being too busy.

I understand OP. This has actually happened to me and at the time it really hurt (especially when I remember all my nieces’ / nephew’s birthdays).

I took some time to process it and realised that my siblings just don’t find birthdays that important and now don’t feel obliged to make such a big deal.

If it’s just been the once, it’s probably an oversight and she’s not purposely leaving out 1 DC.

Do you have any inkling as to why she’s blocked you from your niece’s phone? Was it due to the falling out? What was the falling out over? Her forgetting DC’s birthday?

Did you stop speaking to her because she blocked your number? Or did you stop speaking to her before and then she blocked your number?

HHN · 01/08/2023 23:25

She blocked me from my nieces phone before my sons birthday. I just feel like she keeps targeting me and purposely trying to exclude me and my little family. I’ve tried speaking to her she just completely ignores any messages I send her so I feel like I’ve done all I can to resolve any issue she has with me. However it’s causing a huge divide in our family and I just feel bad my mam being stuck in the middle as I imagine that must be awful for her.

Just distance yourself emotionally from her? If she is doing this and you don't want to miss out on family stuff just see if you can be around her but not engage too much?
