Do you touch your hair if you see an attractive man?

Numerous "body language" resources online state that women like to touch their hair if they see an attractive man.. be it a flick, or stroke or

I'm pretty decent looking, but not amazing.. been called handsome all my life, had ex-gfs stroke my ego with compliments etc.. I'd say im about a 7 out of 10 now I'm 36yo. Since reading this body language stuff i have noticed it out and about sometimes.. maybe i'm paranoid, maybe i'm in a fantasy world.. or perhaps i'm somewhere in the middle.

I was walking down the promenade earlier and a woman was approaching me, she had all the time in the world to get her hair out of her face, but she decided to do it right when she got next to me to pass me.. Coincidence?

Same thing happens in Tescos....

Another incident recently, i nearly bumped into a woman as i exited the gym doors,, her first instinct was to move her hand to her hair

Met women at bars numerous times of the years, the ones that clearly are into me like to stroke their hair through their fingers up and down kinda thing.

I'm touching my hair right now and I am alone ...

Some women touch and flick their hair constantly. It probably is a 'showy' type gesture.

Jennifer Aniston averages 45 times per scene in any Friends episode (and also in interviews)

I would look more closely at 'mirroring' if I was you. I think it's more accurate in terms of interest.
Also see 'body pointing'

I used to be really interested in body language and still have lots of books on the subject. 😁

Bet it doesn't happen to you much

I tend to just take my clothes off and lie down.

MissingMoominMamma · 30/07/2023 21:25

I’m touching mine now. The only males in the room are a dog and a cat. Perhaps I’ve got fleas. Perhaps the women you pass also have fleas.

Pubic, yes.

😂

BounceyB · 30/07/2023 21:30

Not really a hair toucher. I touch my face quite a lot but not sure what that's supposed to mean. If I really like someone, I can’t talk to them.

SgtPercyTwentyman · 30/07/2023 21:48

It's been a stage convention for decades. Female character fancies male character who's just entered stage left. Cue for business playing with her hair.

That's all it is, I think. Never seen any woman do it in real life.

This is like that the streets song.. 'I saw this thing on itv the other week... if she plays with her hair she's probably keen'

Titicacacandle · 30/07/2023 23:55

No I fiddle with my hair all the time, more so on my own when I'm driving.

GarlicGrace · 30/07/2023 23:58

I do it on purpose if I'm hoping to be treated a little indulgently 😈

CinnamonJellyBeans · 31/07/2023 00:13

I've only ever seen it on love island. Makes the woman look really vacuous.

Flipflops123 · 31/07/2023 10:34

Dilated pupils are also meant to be an indicator of attraction... but I wear contact lenses so I'm probably giving men the wrong idea up and down the country Wink

Annaishere · 31/07/2023 10:36

I do it when I’m nervous

BBno4 · 31/07/2023 10:38

No and this is dangerous thinking.

A guy i met up with had an argument with me because I touched my hair when someone walked past.

This is a dangerous mindset.

Annaishere · 31/07/2023 10:46

god what an idiot! @BBno4

PuppyMcPupFace · 31/07/2023 10:50

No, if I see an attractive man I generally touch his hair.

JorisBonson · 31/07/2023 10:53

Then what happened?

Agreed.
I wish they'd just leave us be and stop making every single thing we do about them.
If you're attracted to a woman politely engage her in conversation and if she reciprocates ask her out. If she doesn't engage with you or declines, she's not interested. We are an evolved species with a verbal language at our disposal with which to communicate. Just use that.

PaintedEgg · 31/07/2023 12:46

no, but compulsive hair touching is a nervous tick that some people display - it can be because they're a bit stressed when talking to someone or because they're thinking of what to buy for dinner

Nah. I touch my hair all the time only because its so soft not because of men

YarisKaris · 31/07/2023 12:49

I touch my hair all the time as I'm autistic and it's a stim. It's not about you

YourCrackersMiLord · 31/07/2023 12:56

I touch my hair a lot. I touch it even more around other people (anyone) - I think as a minor self-soothing kind of behaviour.

How much I fancy (or not) the other person is not a factor.
