We've got to a point where we need some help, we've tried to do it ourselves but it's not working.

Do you just ring and get an appointment? Does anyone know if you have to wait very long for an appointment?

you usually get an initial appt which from what I remember doesn't take too long, its like an assessment of the issues and then you go onto the waiting list which where I live were around 12wks! its much easier and quicker and cheaper to go see your gp and arrange an appt through them, relate do counselling at my surgery and thats where i have been going.

Good luck

You can go to their website also (just google Relate) and then you can look in your region for a local phone number.
I must admit we did all that and had the initial assessment and were then told we would be waiting for 10 weeks (that was 10 weeks ago and have heard nothing!).
We couldn't wait so checked in the yellow pages/Thomson and looked under Counselling and found a Relationship Counsellor (check they are qualified) and she has been fantastic!
Good Luck!

It took months for us to get an appointment with relate, I rang them and after a few months we had an assessment appointment and then started counselling some time after.

thanks! I had tried to find on their website but there was nothing about how long we would have to wait, I knew someone here would know. I'm not surprised they don't say if the wait is so long.

Hadn't thought to look in yellow pages, will have a look to see if there's someone local.

I've just had a look and one of the local counsellors is my HE teacher from school, think that would be a bit weird.

What qualifications do I need to look for, one said they were UKCP Registered, do you know if that requires a qualification?
