How much money do you need to divorce?

Just that really. No DC involved but likely to be contentious as he will fight it.

He is a high earner, I am not.

I will be looking for a clean break.

So how much should I expect to pay? Yet to consult a solicitor.

Most divorce solicitors will be happy to have a chat with you and give you a ball park figure.
Mine gave me a fixed price for a non contentious divorce. The only extras I had to pay were court fees. It was less than £2000.
But your circumstances are different to mine so I couldn’t guess.

Almost none, in theory. If you have no children what will you be fighting about? Marital assets?

Yes, and that he doesn't want to divorce hence why he'll fight it. I can't afford barristers etc if it goes to court.

I don't want anything more than a clean break. I don't want the assets or any part of them, just to walk away.

I think a clean break is a good idea as it will protect any assets you may have on the future. The financial agreement is essential whether you have kids or not.

Consult a solicitor they often give you a free half hour of initial advice.

My divorce was messy and took forever, we do have kids. I was quoted £3.5k but it actually cost me close to £8. I had to scrimp and save all the way through and things are still fairly tight.
