a room of their own

Is this weird, because it annoys the hell out of me - my xh has a flat with his new partner. Our three smallest dcs stay over one or two nights a week in their two bedroomed flat. Instead of one of the bedrooms being set up for my children's use, xh and his dp have it as an art room. So when my dcs go over to stay, they all have to sleep on a sofa bed in the living room. DCs are boy, 14, girl,12, and boy, 9. It doesn't seem right that they don't have a room to call their own. Am I just being a bitch because, let's face it, I hate the bastard

lol

Bastard with a wanky art room.

BoysOnToast · 23/02/2008 13:17

depends how the kids feel about it.
and anyway, what on earth could you do about it? i can see both sides tbh - they are only there 1 night a week. do they use this art room a lot? would you know?

having 3 biggish kids to stay in a 2-bed flat is going to be a squash whatever the arrangements. Interesting to see what happens when your dd refuses to share a room with your older ds (or vice versa) - they may be happier in the sitting room because it feels more like camping, whereas if all three have to share a bedroom it'll start getting a bit wierd soon

Well, I'm inclined to agree with the 'bastard with a wanky art room' comment Because that is what he is like. He is a narcissist, and being a dad was too ordinary for him. He attends dancing, acting, music and stand up comedy classes (plus wanky art room) because he is desperate to show the world that they really are missing out on a good thing by ignoring him. She is desperate to be a fashion designer/d.j. so this is what the room is all about.
My DS of 14 is beginning to dislike going over there though because he hates being constantly overseen as he has no retreat like a bedroom. I can see that it's his flat, his room, but I would want to make my kids feel that I had made space for them in my new life. They are not casual sleepovers, they are his children.

er yeah, see what you mean.
i think tho, that if it isnt now, it will become patently obvious to your dc that they are not all that important to these self-interested people... which is harsh, but your dc will prob decide of their own accord to phase out going there...
oh dear. at least they have you, eh?

Send them along with blow-up beds so they can camp in the wanky art room, you never know, they might accidentally break something in there. Ooops.

Oh my life, if I'm their consolation then I feel sorry for the poor buggers, boysontoast lol. I just wanted to check my reactions to this room were valid, rather than being based on my dislike of him iyswim. I contemplated telling him that all our 6 kids now sleep on the living room floor as I had turned my bedrooms into a library, meditation room, sewing room and hall of mirrors where I could stare at myself all day long (surprised he doesn't have one of those ).Oh he annoys me. Thanks for your thoughts ladies.

ROFL at (wanky) 'art room'.

Sorry. Its not helpful, I know. But really?

Without wishing to be rude or impolite about the father of your children, may I add,

"tosser"?

Sorry.

littlewoman · 23/02/2008 14:05

You go right ahead, foxy, and throw in any other words you can think of lol
