Messed up Father’s Day - how can I fix this

My DH goes to lots of effort on Mother’s Day, and I normally do for Father’s Day. We arrived back from holiday really early this morning so I didn’t have much time to sort anything, so I just ordered a card from Moonpig and an evoucher. DH is miffed I didn’t make more effort - like making him breakfast in bed, etc. Feel like the day is ruined - what can I do to make it up to him?

It' very difficult to organise when you are already organising a holiday so don't be so hard on yourself. The only time I forgot my DHs birthday was when we were away. I had to do all the packing, organising, thinking, including taking cards and presents. It happens.

Just make the evening a bit more special with a takeaway and get ds to put a painted hand on a piece of folded paper for the card, with a scribble inside.

Make his favourite tea or order a takeaway, nip out and buy him a couple of beers to go with it. Job done.

You said his miffed, what did he actually do/say/looked like/behaving?

TooJoy · 18/06/2023 16:27

Father’s Day is a date you know well in advance so being busy a couple of days before isn’t an excuse.

Tbh I would find you trying to make excuses more insulting, than making little effort.
I would just apologise and say you’ll make more effort next year.

I personally am not that fussed over Mother’s Day and my ideal day would be doing no housework and having a takeaway.

Who actually eats breakfast in bed? It's gross

It’s a shame Father’s Day was only announced recently and you didn’t have weeks to sort something out like all the whingers get told when they complain about Mother’s Day…oh wait, never mind.
