Husband tells me he’s bringing a bottle of champagne and a takeaway home tonight.
Anyway he comes in looks in the fridge and goes mental because there’s no coke. ( he wanted a whisky coke) I offered to go to the shop but he threw his keys on the ground d stormed out banging the door saying we were all selfish etc !! I’m yet again spending another night on my own I’m sick of it. AIBU in thinking his behaviour is out of order ?

Do you really have to ask? He behaved like a toddler having a tantrum because you didn't have the right juice. If this is a regular thing time to reassess.

Shoutatthewind · 01/06/2023 22:20

erm yeah, what a childish behavior.

Sounds like he has form?

Stratocumulus · 01/06/2023 22:23

Is he two years old?

If this is typical behaviour I’d be looking at some serious discussions with him and just in case of negative outcomes, get my “ducks in a row.” (That’s the phrase MN hates! Sorry.

He sounds like a man child, can’t control his emotions and makes everything about him. He’s behaved like a truculent teenager with the IQ of a toddler.

perfectcolourfound · 02/06/2023 07:44

Why does he think it's your responsibility to think ahead to what he might want (the coke)?
Why does he instantly get angry because something he wants isn't in the fridge?
Why did you offer to go out and get it for him?

And all of this is so at odds with someone who's bringing champagne and takeaway home (that sounds like someone in a good, celebratory mood)...

Does he often swing between moods? Does he get angry quickly? Does he think it's your job to second-guess what he wants and run around after him?

Because if this is how he acts - regularly or just sometimes - I'd be rethinking whether I wanted to be with him.

Moonshine5 · 02/06/2023 07:53

THAT'S NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOUR

supercali77 · 02/06/2023 08:24

No thats not normal. From champagne one minute to a night alone the next. Is that typical rollercoaster behaviour?

Changeforachange · 02/06/2023 08:28

No, that's not how an emotionally continent adult behaves over soft drinks. Was he drunk already?

I can understand it being irritating IF he always refills the fridge with your drinks & you never return the favour, but that should lead to a conversation not a full on tantrum.

Did he bring the champagne & takeaway?

solice84 · 02/06/2023 08:50

Does he have alcohol issues by any chance ?

ZekeZeke · 02/06/2023 08:54

INeedAnotherName · 02/06/2023 08:54

Did you drink the champagne? Seriously though,

If he called you about the champagne/takeaway he could have asked if he needed to get coke.

If he was out he could have picked some up anyway.

Do you regularly get highs (takeaway) and lows (slamming out the door) with this man?

Dona41 · 02/06/2023 13:45

He can be quite entitled I understand he was annoyed there was no coke left but I have a problem with his over the top reaction.
Hes not talking to me today which is ridiculous. He has said he works hard and provides for us and no one thinks of him !!!!!!
i work 34 hours a week, do90 per cent childcare he has a home cooked meal every night , washing done and folded I do the food shop and 90 per cent of the cleaning

And I bet you spend your life walking on eggshells.

UndercoverCop · 02/06/2023 15:39

See it as a bonus, champagne, takeaway and not having to share it with that massive arsehole.
If this is more than a one off you need to think about whether you want to stay in this relationship.

longwayoff · 02/06/2023 16:10

He sounds divine, what a catch you lucky girl. Pack. Pick up your keys. Leave. Dont hang about.
