What will I be entitled to?

Hi Me and my partner (not married) are sperating and we have a five year old together. I work one day per week (15 hour shift) with a sleep shift at the end of my day shift. I get paid £850 per month. I don't pay tax as I don't earn enough. If I move out with my son I'm quite concerned if I will be able to afford it. Rent alone where I am from and next to his school is about £1000 pm for a two bed flat. My partner has said that he will give me around 350/400 pm in child maintenance. When we sell our house we will be left with around 40000 each which means I won't be entitled to any housing benefit as it'll have to go on rent but that won't last forever. Am I correct in thinking I can use the first 16000 to do with what I want? I'm thinking maybe if I started a business I could get myself out of a very dim outlook for when the money runs out. If anyone knows of any more entitlements please let me know. I know I'm not in the worst position as I have roughly enough to pay for rent for four years but after that it looks pretty bleak 😩

It will be UC that you claim, not HB. Any savings over £6k mean your UC will be reduced - anything over £16k and you won't get anything at all.

What’s the plan for sharing care of your DC? Will you be able to continue with the sleep shift ? Are you able to increase your hours?
Id be looking for a one bedroom place for a few years, either sharing with DC or sleeping in the lounge. Also increasing your income as quickly as you can so you can keep your savings and use as a deposit on a flat.

I would not rely on what your ex says about maintenance. He could easily change his mind. Go to the cms calculator and work out what he is required to pay and work out a budget based on that.

Hi. I have applied to a teaching agency to become an unqualified teaching assistant which they said they accept. Not all the checks and references have been done yet. I'm not worried about references ect but I have no GCSEs. I am worried to put this on the application but they did say unqualified was ok. I am wondering if I get my level 3 as teaching assistant would GCSEs matter? Tina xx
