How do you introduce a new partner?

I need some advice please.

How have you introduced a new partner to your children? How do you broach the subject?

I've been seeing my partner for almost a year now, and we're both at a point where we are considering telling our respective children.

If it makes a difference we are long distance, have no illusions about moving in together or anything like that, but it would be nice to do the occasional day out with us and both our children.
We plan to let the children then lead from there oh how much they want to socialise with each other etc..

We just seem stuck on how we broach the topic and how we introduce each other, do we start out as friends etc..

Please help by sharing your experience of this.

TIA Smile

Depends how old your kids are

I did this recently with my boyfriend. My DC are 6 and 8.
I started drip feeding him into conversations first so they knew he existed and checked in with them how they felt about it. Then I waited for them to ask to meet him (they are pretty sociable so only took a few weeks) and once they did, he came to meet us at the park. He brought them a little Easter egg and left after about an hour. The next time he popped over for supper and next week we are going out for the day to a farm park.

Slowly and gently worked for my kids.

Depends on the age of the children

We all met in the pub for drinks as mine are teenagers - that’s why it will vary depending on age !

I also drip fed mines into conversation every now and again, then began to show photos , once they became curious and asked more questions I showed photos of him , eventually after months he met us at a soft play area , the kids are 3&4
