Is it a man? Or a woman? Or a child?

What do you want to achieve - sex/friendship/favour?

It's a man, he is potential boyfriend material but too insular, known him for a while now and still don't feel that I 'know' him iykwim

OK.
Are you sure that he IS quiet? I don't mean to be rude, but is it possible he's just not interested?

If you're sure, then how do you behave around him - if you're quite loud and talky talky he might be a bit scared

friends dh is like this

I would love to find a way to loosen him up so we can really get to see the real him.

Have tried plying him with booze but have ended up pissed myself so can't judge how it worked or if it did.

Have a sneaky suspicion he's just a really dull person..nice but dull.

TimeForMe · 13/02/2008 15:11

I would find something that he is really interested in and then show an interest myself. My DP is very quiet and can appear insular (and yes, dull to those who don't really know him, bless him) but, strike up a converstation about something he has a great interest in and he lights up like a Christmas tree!

Ahh TimeForMe, there's something really sweet and endearing about your comment.. I can't put my finger on why but it really gave me a warm feeling

If he is anything like my DP he will be happy just as he is, he might not feel he has any barriers to let down. Being a bit of an extrovert myself it took some getting used to but, once I stopped thinking of things from my point of view, stopped putting pressure on him, I actually discovered he is an intersting person in his own right, just quietly interesting
