DH work problems

Have had a fallout with my DH this morning. He is being disciplined at work after he was given a directive some weeks ago - he never told me about this. Now he has done something which may go against the terms of this directive. He didn't tell me. His friend did - the friend thought I already knew. DH said he hadn't had a chance to tell me as it only happened at the end of last week and also he didn't want to because he knew I wouldn't be supportive.

His view is that I should be supportive of him. He thinks he has been treated unfairly and standing up for himself. I think he does not get on with his boss and his boss does not get on with him. In his position, I feel I would recognise this and that the best course of action would be to look for a different job before things got out of hand.

We are at a stalemate and currently not speaking. I'm really angry so I'm not sure speaking about it at the moment is a good idea anyway.

For context, we've been together 20 years and married for 10.

What would you do?

I wouldn't be giving him the silent treatment, that's for sure.

I would use some selfcontrol and restart the conversation with an open mind, and I would also appreciate the fact that this is his job, and he is entitled to handle things the way he feels is best. He may be making a horrible decision, but there's not much you can do about it. He will have to deal with the consequences. I would remind him that those consequences may impact you, as well.

That's useful advice. Helps me put it in perspective. Thank you.
