Step Daughters Birthday Party

My other half and me are going through a bit of a tough time and he moved out last week back to his mother's because he keeps partying. We've been together nearly 3 years - I'm 8 months pregnant and our first baby passed away last May. He has 2 children from a previous relationship and they usually stay with us every weekend - I'm very close with them and have a great relationship with them. My step daughters birthday party is today (6 yo) and his mother is throwing a party. I've got certain feelings towards his mother which he or she doesn't know about- I feel she enables his partying and wants to keep him at home needing her. She said to me the other week she's not able for the kids as she's got mental health issues and won't be able for my baby. When my first son passed she didn't attend the funeral, gave grief card, honoured him at Xmas, asked for a picture of him, att3nded his rememberance service - nothing. But I've said nothing to her, I stay respectful but she is really manipulative and wants to keep all her boys (40+ year old men) at home needing her.

Anyway she's throwing this party. Which me and my other half were meant to be doing but I suppose he moved out last week so maybe that's why she's doing it. Me and my other half haven't split up, we are talking things through and trying to navigate our problems. But he hasn't invited me to my step daughters birthday today - I feel so hurt by this and don't know what to say or do. I know she's going to be asking for me. Why would he be so cruel? Does he realise how cruel this is? I feel like I should be at big family occasions like this - am I wrong?

Why are you trying to save a relationship with someone who parties all the time? Has he stopped? There’s nothing to navigate - either he stops partying or he doesn’t?

He probably doesn't want a tense or hostile atmosphere for his child's birthday
