Separation

My son & DiL are separating, well have been for last 12 months but are still in the same hose. They have S(5)& D(2) . There have been a couple of occasions recently when I have collected Gs from school or to come for sleepover when he's told me out of the blue that mummy threw a cup at daddy/mummy threw a dirty nappy at daddy & this weekend he told me that mummy was shouting in the kitchen & when he peeped round the door he saw mummy punch daddy's face. I'm beyond upset & also annoyed , firstly that he's seeing this stuff but also that she's doing this to my son . I have kept out of things so far but feel this is just DV & it's completely unacceptable & it's taking its toll on Gs behaviour & he's been getting into trouble in school. Would you speak to S & DiL ? I feel I should for the children's sake but know it will destroy the uneasy relationship I've tried to maintain with her.

You need to speak to your son separately I think.

If your grandson is telling you this, he is likely to tell another adult and social services could well become involved.

Poor kids.

I will speak to him about it & I know I can't keep turning a blind eye to it , if it was the other way around I would be on it straight away. I think I need to speak to them separately

Your GS obviously feels like he is safe with you and can talk to you, he’s lucky to have you.

Your grandson sounds worried which is probably why he us telling you. Can your son stay with you temporarily? Maybe he is worried about the children. I would speak to your son separately.

Thank you. I'm so upset for him & gd but also for my son. I've always had a good relationship with DiL but it's changed over the last year which is understable but feel her behaviour is just becoming more & more unreasonable for all of them.

I don't have room to take son in unfortunately & although to begin with he was going to sign house over to her she can't get the morgate to buy him out. She was supposed to be finding somewhere to rent & he would cover all bills & maintenance but she's not really making an effort to sort things out.
