He won't let go

I won't take long but am at my wits end with ex.
I broke up with him three months ago for good reason after a few years .. we didn't live together but both 50.
He had a lot to lose , granted ... no home , looking for a new job, poor health etc and we had it all going on until his selfishness took over and he turned out to be an unreliable boyfriend.
I've had to block out his number and social media accounts as he was contacting me
In different ways, which left email.
He has emailed me loads and has send several bunches of flowers.
I've been firm but I know he is hurting very badly and is very remorseful .For me there is no going back . I hate to hurt him but this has got to stop.
For other reasons outside of the relationship I need to keep one method of contact .
Help?

”I know you are hurting but this has got to stop. I do not want to be in a relationship with you and I want you to stop contacting me and sending me things. I will report it to the police as harassment if you continue.”

Be very clear and very firm - and follow through with reporting him if he doesn’t leave you alone.

I had an ex like this. He left notes all over the local area, followed me online, asked me to marry him, left flowers at my dog.

I wrote him a letter and said if this didn't stop I would report him to the police for stalking. Luckily he stopped.

As the previous person said, you need to be firm.

'Hurting' is not an excuse to trash someone else's boundaries. Disrespectful people need to be told firmly to back the fuck off.

I'd tell him once, firmly 'do not contact me again or I will report to the police as harassment'

I don't know what possible reason is worth leaving any open line of communication with him. But 'my solicitor will be in touch regarding xyz and all communication should be through them in future' could be added for things like if he owes you money.

If You share a pet, one of you should keep it and end contact. It's not practical to stay in contact with a man who cant take no for an answer over a pet, sorry.

Yeah.

For what reason do you need to keep in contact?

Toiletfriend · 10/02/2023 16:02

Unless you have children together, there's surely no reason you need to keep in contact.

“I know that you are hurting but constantly contacting me is not going to achieve anything except me feeling harassed. I’m not going to change my mind so please could you stop contacting me. If you don’t, I will be compelled to take legal action”
