Single (well lives alone) guy moved across the road last year & I'm kind of drawn to him but don't want to make an idiot of myself incase he's not actually single - I put a Christmas card through his door from me, my daughter & dog & he posted one back through ours, quite a nice one, didn't look like pack one. What can I do to find out if single or get him to notice me??

I'm pretty sure if he has a serious partner you'd have seen them around 🤞🏼

I hope - only problem is if they had a "visitor" they'd have to park in road around corner so hard to tell lol x

Do you have a front garden?
I get chatting to lots of people in my street when I'm out tidying the garden.

hbvf · 09/01/2023 22:39

I don't have any advice apart from keep trying to start a conversation, but I am pretty excited for you as a complete stranger 🤣
If my other half hadn't have taken a chance chatting up a random, neither of us would be with the love of our lives, you've nothing to lose!

Invite a friend round and let them park on your drive. Then park on his drive - he'll have to knock on your door and you can explain your friend can't walk far and you used his drive while he was out 😂

Years ago when single I had a very bold (in a good way) friend- she was always up for being direct. I was quite bold but never if I liked someone. She’d have been over to his asking about going for a drink but not in a I like you way, she had a knack for starting- did you get one of those letters/emails re the neighbourhood scam because something else and lead it to going to the pub.
Id have been the one waiting for spring, being in the front garden, sit on the wall and wave happily when he got home, glass of wine in hand, see if he came over..
Youve got to do something OP

Ask him if he knows how to change the time on the clock.

He might be the only person in the known universe who doesn't spend half the year with their car clock an hour out!

Hope it's a different model from mine Grin. You just press the H button under the clock and it moves the hour on until you stop......

Sorry, that reeks of desperation. She hasn't even spoken to the guy yet!

Zanatdy · 10/01/2023 06:25

I had a neighbour 20yrs ago who was so bold. We lived near the train station and one day she saw a guy walk past who gave her a wink and a smile and she literally got in her car and drove down the road after him and gave her number to him! She then went out on a date with him! Didn’t lead anywhere but it made me laugh.

I think parking on his drive might really annoy him. Would it annoy you if a neighbour parked on your drive? Think about it....not a good idea.

lazarusb · 10/01/2023 12:56

@Bogeyes It was a joke, not a serious suggestion.

BMW6 · 10/01/2023 14:28

He gave you a Xmas card not from a boxed set?

Gay, sorry 😚

DatingDinosaur · 10/01/2023 18:07

Bide your time OP. Why the rush? Come Spring, I'm sure your little patch of front lawn will need some weed and feed, borders digging and planting, maybe a tub or two.

Not to mention the ongoing maintenance deadheading, cutting the grass, tidying the borders, etc.

Lots of opportunities where you might happen to be able to say hello [name] when he's coming and going.

Wink

How does asking someone for a drink reek of desperation?

Notaboutthebass · 10/01/2023 19:36

A lot of men like a confident, staight woman!

He used to just be gone in day (work hours) but last week or so his car's not there later in evening too, I fear he's seeing someone & I've missed the boat 😕
