To think my partner is always on his phone when he comes to see me, his excuse is he's at work 24/7 and hardly on it, I could be cooking food cleaning anything even in bed and he's always on his phone. There is nothing on there no women no nothing, I ask him to come down the stairs in the morning help with breakfast for us as a family, and 1 hour later he's stil on his phone.... I've just about had enough of it!! When I express this all I get is your on your phone.

You’re not a priority.

You're not being unreasonable. You sound a lot calmer about it than I would be.

If the phone is getting in the way of his daily life (and it is when you're acting like a single parent because he's glued to the phone), then it's a problem.

You need to put your foot down. The longer it goes on, the harder it'll be to break the habit. Maybe it would help to avoid focusing on the phone. Tell him that he is not doing his part as a parent and husband. Tell him that you feel like you're doing all the work and also not having a relationship with him. Mention that it's the phone, but make sure to emphasize the consequences of his phone addiction. If you focus on the phone itself, he gets to tell himself you're trying to control him, so focus on what he is not doing because of the phone.

He is not at work 24/7 (no-one is) and you are playing second fiddle to his incessant phone usage.

Re your comment
"I ask him to come down the stairs in the morning help with breakfast for us as a family"
If you and he live together do not regard what he does as help or "helping". He is equally responsible here for the family.

I would ask yourself if this is actually a relationship you want to remain in.

@AttilaTheMeerkat I'm not sure anymore

I also suffer with fibromyalgia, and even when I've struggling to lift hot pan of potatoes and sometimes drop them, she's still stuck on his phone then he wil say why don't you just ask me

What is he 15 ?

Antst · 07/01/2023 14:44

@anx12345, that's a common ploy from lazy husbands. Tell him you're not his boss. It's not your job to assign him tasks. He needs to step up and take responsibility and stop putting it on you to organize everything.

Notaboutthebass · 07/01/2023 17:33

I had this, it's so frustrating...straight after sex, before a hug in the morning, while watching a film together, whilst talking to him...all the bloody time. One of many things that annoyed me. I find it so rude.

anx12345 · 07/01/2023 19:19

@Notaboutthebass totally agree with you

Even whist we are on FaceTime together he's scrolling threw his phone, I've just about had enough! Don't think I want this anymore! He doesn't make me happy! Moans at me just watches me do all the cooking and house work then when I've finished he will say I was going so them, ask him do something I'm stil waiting 30 mins later he's clearly not in love with me but he his the phone

That's really not good. What are you going to do?
