She posted a video on social media of Andrew Tate. He was basically saying the government and people in power didn't like him because he has influence and power over people.

I messaged her and said do you like this man? She replied she likes most of his stuff and that he speaks alof of sense around business and when he talks about the matrix. Although she didn't like his stuff about women.

I said you do realise why he moved to Romania and the reasons behind being arrested and that he targets young children on games.
All she replied with is she finds it very interesting how much influence and power Andrew has and that the "elite" people in the world don't like it.

I'm absolutely shocked. We both have young children. I don't get how she cannot see that this man is a predator to women and young children. I now see her in a completely different light.
I don't know if I can move past this. I myself have been in abusive relationships and I just think it's awful that my sister supports this sorry excuse of a person.

i had a long term male friend who basically told me that he was "misunderstood" and not necessarily a bad guy. He cited an interview with Piers Morgan that he watched (I've not watched it) and apparently it made him see him in a different light (has anyone seen it? If so what was your opinion??).

I'm reassessing my friendship with this person because I don't know if I can maintain our friendship with someone who believes this (for info, this person has also said other iffy comments over the years).

Would love to hear from others what they think of this opinion of his, that Tate is somehow "misunderstood"????!

Well, it all depends on what you’ve seen. His feeds on YouTube are about 85% reasonable guy, 15% sexist wine boy (percentages may vary in your perception depending on whether you lean left or right).

i don’t like everything he says, but he’s not the devil, not an idiot, and if the sister has only seen the above, there’s no real reason she shouldn’t think he’s ok.

And yes, there are various legal activities ongoing - but it’s also notable that we have innocent until proven guilty plus the Romanians have been investigating for well over 1.5 years now and haven’t charged him. Which is not a good look for their investigation.

OP - how much do you actuall Know about him? Have you listened to hear what he says and formed your own views, or is your opinion of him simply reflecting the current ‘Tate is bad’ reporting? If the former, you can actually discuss it with her. If the latter, you will fall at the first hurdle (the question ‘name something you have seen him say that you didn’t like’).

I have watched plenty of what he hsa to say. His attitude towards women are disgusting. Pretty easy to find things that are objectionable.

Then presumably you’d be able to have a proper discussion about it. Unlike the vast majority who simply parrot whatever the ‘accepted’ view is.

i personally don’t like the way he talks about women who sleep with lots of men. But I do understand what he says about what men are looking for in a partner (which underpins the former attitude).

I also think his attitude about what men are for and should do is based on a veryhyper masculine approach. But I do think men and women have different societal approaches and roles.

All his comments are things that could be responded to with engaged and intellectual discussion. And not everyone will like his views, but they’re far from illegal and an approach of ‘Tate is bad, no debate’ won’t get anyone anywhere positive.

I admit I’ve read nothing of Andrew Tate or even heard of him before he got into the press. I’ve still never bothered to read his stuff.
However she’s right that he has lots of influence.
I’d just remind her that people who have been the best at talking and are good at persuading are often the last people you should listen to. They are just really good at saying things effectively.

Her interviewing was pointless she kept repeating questions he'd already answered. She could have done her research before the interview, after all she's suppose to be a journalist.
