Someone always taking hours to reply to texts? I've started speaking to someone new and he takes forever to reply to my messages, sometimes even responds the next day. Is this a sign of lack of interest?

I’ve just been through a similar thing but he would take days to reply, I’ve just left it now as I can’t be bothered.

I know people have different texting styles but when it’s more than 12 hours, I think it’s quite rude. Especially at the start when you’re trying to impress

Tbh it's whatever you're happy with. If it's something that will bother you in the long run is it really worth it? I don't think I could be bothered waiting around for someone all the time

TiAmoTiAmo · 11/12/2022 22:12

Unless I know he is busy, I would be put off because most people are attached to their phones these days and he could have given me the heads up he's going to be busy or away. Guys move heaven and earth if they want to be with you, it's not a great hardship sending a quick text.

My new date is a bit slow replying. I do think he’s interested but i am finding it hard to get used to

Absolutely not. If this is someone new then they owe you absolutely nothing at this stage. It always baffles me how people expect to become a priority in someone's life when they've only just met!
When I first met OH (on OLD) we'd sometimes go several days between speaking. I sometimes didn't reply to him and vice versa, I respected that he had his own life and certainly didn't expect for him to drop everything just because I'd text him. It was refreshing to not be expected to do the same back too.
Let things evolve naturally, someone's text response time is not a good way to judge their character.

I would take it as he's not keen. When LT relationships take off it's instant rather than slow burn.

This exactly, I hate the instant or near instant need to keep in contact I want breathing space and give others the same

Depends, tbh I used to treat messaging via OLD apps as email, and could take hours or a day to reply ( it was as slow as email tbh, nothing instant about the service). But if talking of regular MSN, messenger or whattsapp texting, then yes , I'd lose interest if often waiting hours for a reply.

ComingRoundAgain · 12/12/2022 00:34

Depends. If the slow replies are at the same kind of time, ie working hours. But outside of those times responses are quick, then no, I wouldn’t be bothered.

But if it’s always slow, all the time, then I’d definitely take that as meaning they’re just not bothered and I’d move on.

Aquamarine1029 · 12/12/2022 00:42

If a man is really, genuinely interested, he will reply promptly.

I'd be moving on.

heartbroken22 · 12/12/2022 00:51

Yeah he's not interested...get rid

avamiah · 12/12/2022 01:00

I personally would say that if you have just started “dating” and haven’t heard from your date for a day or two then move on.
