Legalities of verbal/emotional abuse

I've been advised by WA to phone the police even in the event of prolonged verbal abuse. But this is not illegal, is it?

Nor is emotional abuse in general? Only coercive control, which strict definitions seem to be more serious than just verbal/emotional abuse (such as total isolation, severe financial abuse)?

You could say you feel intimidated/threatened. That is part of coercive control www.crispandco.com/site/services/domestic_violence/emotional-abuse-law/ If it's turned physical at any point in the past then mention that too.

But don't expect much from the police TBH in my experience.

It's really hard to know what to do when you're in an abusive relationship. It's important to know what your rights are. www.gordonsols.co.uk/our-expertise/family-law/domestic-abuse/
