Is Tinder a con?

So, I get a few likes every now and then but when I boost my profile (usually the one you get free each month) I get loads!!! Tinder then wants £££ to boost my profile again. Are they just conning us idiots who pay to use their dating site??

I feel like I’m deliberately hidden! I’m not ugly - honestly!

The odds are good but the goods are odd…

That’s true

no. I didn’t even know you could boost your profile. I get plenty of likes (from men I don’t want). Ask a friend to look at your profile and see if it’s somehow off putting

Apparently when you close and reopen the app the first couple of guys it shows are ones who are "high value" and one or two who have liked you.

I had mine paid for a month, deleted it as the pool was fairly stagnant. Reopened a free one the following day and met my partner then. I think he was one of the first that showed up in fact.

The objective of many on an OLD app/site is meet The One and get off the app/site asap.

The objective of the owners of all OLD apps and sites is to keep you on the app/site, spending money on subscriptions and boosts, premium profiles etc, so they don't want you to meet The One as then you'll be off the app/site.

Those objectives are mutually exclusive - all OLD is a con in that respect.

Yep they want some success stories to attract new users but mostly want people to stay on it.
Same with diets
Depressing isn't it

There used to ne an algorithm with it. you'd open the app, clicked on X amount of likes, and came out if it. You did this for 2 or 3 days. Then leave then left the app for a week or so. Then when you went on, you get about 8 matches out of the first 10 you clicked like on.
Think the app felt you weren't using it and so had to draw you in. Similar to getting stuck on candy crush for ages. You don't play it for 2 weeks, go back on and straight away get through the level.

Why is making you pay for a business service a con ?
baffles me how people want to date but think that apps are some kind of free service !
