How to approach someone you suspect of being gaslighted

NC for this post…. I’m really concerned that a close family member is being gaslighted by his girlfriend. To the extent that she is saying she has given birth to his premature baby (several weeks ago) but that the hospital won’t let him see the child due to infection concerns. There are a lot more things that have been done / said, that don’t add up. The family member in question is quite young and naive but fully believes he is now a father. The risk I have with voicing my concerns is that he would become more isolated from his family, as, previous history has shown, she is quite good at turning him against anyone who says anything. Right now I’m just watching it play out but it’s getting to the point where it doesn’t feel right to keep quiet much longer. If anyone has any strategy ideas they could share, I would be very appreciative!

Could you get him to ring the hospital to check she is there?
