How to date when you don’t know what you want?

Hello!

Just looking for advice really!

I’m a woman in my early 20s, no financial commitments or children etc. I’ve just come out of a 2 year relationship and feel this urge to date around again. The truth, however, is that I’m enjoying being single and selfish and only worrying about myself. Simultaneously, I want to date and I’ve ventured onto online dating apps. So far I’ve just been saying that I’m looking to meet new people/looking for friends/companionship, however I don’t know how to broach the subject with people. I have a few dates lined up and don’t want to mess people around. Should I just say I have no expectations and want to see where things go? Or perhaps it’s best for me to pack in dating and just enjoy the single-life? 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

On Bumble where it says what you're looking for it gives you the option of 'not sure yet', you could try that. But sounds like it's not been too long since your relationship ended, was it your choice? I wouldn't advise dating if you're still heart broken or not over it. And you're enjoying being single, so why not enjoy that for a bit longer? I've made the mistake of getting into a relationship a few times when I've been really happy single, just because I felt it was the expectation!

Don't date. Take some time by yourself. If you don't know what you want, you're going to be messing people around - or you're going to get hurt again.

It's tempting to go out in search of someone else to get over a newly ended relationship. Better to end it properly in terms of your own emotions - no matter who initiated the split or what kind of relationship it is, there will be consequences - and then you'll find that you will know exactly what you want, and then it'll be time.

Be selfish, just care about you, others won’t think twice about messing you about.

when you have kids and other commitments, women normally put themselves last, last, last!! So whilst you can, BE SELFISH and do what you want to do!!

Have fun!

I have found (I've done a limited amount of OLD) that the guys who put 'looking for a relationship' often aren't - they just know they will get more swipes than just stating 'looking for casual sex with as many as possible'.

So just have fun (doesn't need to have to shag then) and date. I honestly would be worried about messing guys around - they are way more likely to be doing that to you from what I understand.
