What's a nice gift I can get my cousin?

My 19f cousin 17f is going away for uni soon and I'm wondering what I could get her? She'll have most of the essentials she'll need so I'm more thinking of getting her some kind of gift. We're not very sentimental with each other so I'm not sure what kind of gift would be appropriate.. My budget is around 50 - 100 pounds

A nice blanket/throw could be good, to make her accommodation more homely? Or a voucher for marks and Spencer so she can get herself some nice food or house stuff?

Cash is always good! I got a family friend some vouchers for an independent ice cream place in his new university city, but then I live here too.

I would try to avoid heavy stuff she will feel the need to carry around.

What about some book tokens? I believe university students still sometimes need them.

Depends on her but a lot of girls are into decorating their room with fairy lights, throws, cushions. Can you take her shopping?
If that’s not her other ideas might be money for a Freshers ticket or finding out what her nearest supermarket is and getting some vouchers.

Book tokens very dependent on course. Lovely idea for English for example. Hopeless for maths.

Coffee machine?

GreyCarpet · 03/08/2022 11:52

I'd have liked fairy lights, hippy throws/cushions and candles when I was her age.

Tbh, I'm 47 and you'd still be hard pressed to do better now!

Unless you fancied stumping up for a Fender Rumble 500 bass amp... 😉

I would have hated being lumbered with lights and throws and stuff I had to haul backwards and forwards...

I'd still say money. I had a great aunt who was famous for sending random wads of cash to her great nieces and nephews at university, always through the post at unexpected moments. Fabulous woman.

I send him a food delivery from a supermarket especially when end of term looming and money tends to be short.i always enclose nice bottle of wine , chocolates or biscuits.it is always appreciated.

@Cuphalffullor , there are maths textbooks, and they're not cheap.

Not going to start an argument on here but I am a senior lecturer in statistics and my son completed his degree in maths 2 years ago.
I have books. He doesn’t. He got his first and has just completed his first 6 actuarial exams and grad programme.
