New BF and I need to cook

Have stupidly offered to cook dinner for him on Saturday. He cooked for me two weeks ago (the third date).

I really like this guy. Have a great feeling and it's all been fun and romantic so far. Never felt happier.

My cooking skills are nill. I'm shit at cooking.

What is reasonably fool proof? Can be prepared In front of him, maybe something that's a bit sexy to prepare, if there's such a thing...

I don't want to let myself down but I really am untalented.

Get a hot chicken from the supermarket plus crusty white bread from the bakery. Mayo and real butter on the table and long g and ts. A nice light evening meal in this weather. If you need more padding either Paxo stuffing and/or some sort of salad.

I'd be honest and tell him that you're not known for your cooking!

Honesty is the best policy.

People are looking for effort - dress the table, have candles and flowers. have wine glasses and a cold wine in the fridge, jug of cold water with ice, a long curl of lemon rind and mint.

then do as people suggest and get a rotisserie chicken, ready made M&S potato salads and other salads, strawberries and cream for dessert.

tell him you’re not great and cooking but want to learn and maybe you could cook together and he can teach you!

Honestly - just get a takeaway and tell him the truth.

Since it's going to be hot I think you can get away with shopping well from a nice deli. So bread, cheese, meats, salads...

You could do the classic of chicken wrapped in bacon that can just bake in the oven. Get some kind of nice potato product from M&S or Waitrose to go with it that looks homemade. Plus some veg in a steamer bag that cooks in the microwave.

Most people can't really cook anyway. There's a large number of people who think they can when they really can't and that's always the most awkward because you end up eating disgusting food and having to pretend to like it 😂

Better to do something simple and nice with shop bought elements. Remember he wants to be there to be with you in your home. The food is of relatively little importance.
