Messaged bf saying saying I miss him, is this response bad?

I messaged my bf saying ‘I do miss you when you’re away!’

his response was just ‘aye, would be great if you were here’ and changed the subject

Can I please get opinions on this response ? It strikes me as a polite awkward disinterested reply ?

It sounds fine to me.

OppsUpsSide · 02/07/2022 19:49

What else could you say to that? What response were you hoping for?

Hoolihan · 02/07/2022 19:50

Perfectly nice response. What were you hoping for?

Italiangreyhound · 02/07/2022 19:50

It sounds to me that he's just acknowledging that he misses you too

Why are you apart? Work family, ?? I guess it's something you cannot change at the moment.

Chamomileteaplease · 02/07/2022 19:50

Sounds fine to me too. Just because he's not gushing.

Clara212 · 02/07/2022 19:51

I guess the lack of ‘I miss you too’ stood out quite a bit to me . Not sure if I’m reading too much into this. It just didn’t seem enthusiastic

How does he usually respond

PetersRabbitt · 02/07/2022 19:57

id rather someone say they wish I was there with them than just “I miss you too”

Dery · 02/07/2022 19:58

Perhaps he thinks that saying “it would be great if you were here” amounts to the same thing. IME men are often not very good at saying the right thing. Actions are much more important. Is there a reason why you’re feeling so insecure?

BananaSpanner · 02/07/2022 20:00

That’s a lovely response. Don’t overthink.

Clara212 · 02/07/2022 20:02

Things have been difficult. Issues re whether he wants children or not (I do and don’t have much of a time window left) . I think because of this he’s been distant and the relationship is going to head one way or the other quite soon

You're reading too much into it

bro101 · 02/07/2022 20:02

How old are you then if you don't have much time? I assumed you were really young.

Featuredcreature · 02/07/2022 20:04

If he's iffy about wanting kids and you definitely do, run a mile. You only have so much fertility. You wouldn't want to have a baby with someone who was not enthusiastic about it, recipe for disaster.

My husband has NEVER said “I miss you too”. He is just not that type of person. But he confesses that he does in fact miss me when away. I could only hope for a response like what you got, don’t worry!!

Livingwithobsession · 02/07/2022 20:29

I think you’re Scottish like me, it sounds perfectly fine, not at all off! X

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 02/07/2022 20:31

My husband does expressions of love via text. I find it difficult to do that. 7

If he isn't normally effusive then I think you're reading too much into it.

roaringmouse · 02/07/2022 20:54

Trust your instincts OP.

User1406 · 02/07/2022 22:44

You're overthinking it, sounds like he misses you but phrased differently.

However, this is YOUR relationship, you know it better than the rest of us. It's all about context and how he normally behaves with you.
