Do you ever wonder about women who stand by their man

Even when they are public ally and privately betraying them as a married couple ?
Looking at Colleen Rooney tonight on the news and am bemused by his presence at court despite his many reported fidelties, humiliating her and their sons .
Isn't it ironic ?

Yes Chris Ingham and his wife are
in denial about his behaviour. It's crazy but guess its their lives to live.

Attwoodsladyfriend · 12/05/2022 21:55

No. And that’s not how I see the Rooney’s at all, not that it’s anyone’s business.

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/05/2022 21:58

Not always the case I know, but generally I assume he’s the one with the money…

Resilience9to5 · 12/05/2022 21:59

Sometimes it's very low self-esteem, in colleen's case, she met Wayne so young that she probably can't imagine being without him no matter how shit he is. Their youngest child is still young and she's not more than 37 or so (?)

I can see her being able to imagine a life without him when her kids are older. But who knows.
Often single mothers are quite excluded socially from the group of couples they used to know so I think some cheated-on-wives without too much braver/self-esteem could look around them and think exclusion and struggle, or inclusion and comfort. That is perhaps an easier choice if you don't love your H so much that his infidelities break your heart. If you're able to shrug over it...... then I'm not judging.
It took me 7 years to pluck to the bravery and the energy to leave an abusive man but that's different. I would leave a cheater, but I don't judge women who genuinely shrug over their H's infidelities. But if they're upset by it, they should split.

It's everyone's business when it's all over the public press

Plenty of women do.
They stay with men who appear to offer very little so I can absolutely understand why someone would stay with a famous millionnaire, who they have been with since school and who is the father of their young children.
I'm not saying it is right or wrong.

draycentral · 12/05/2022 22:04

But how many infidelities are too much. Like VB, gushing and posting nonsense about her perfect man, yet he , despite their vows will get
Up on so many women Their dignity, pride, kids , self esteem ???
The world can see through it . It's not a case of people
Thinking ...' aw they're so in one and so happy ' .. it's all false and so
Demeaning and undignified . I don't know. Trying to make
Sense of it

The court case is in the press. His infidelities are, I’m led to believe, significantly fewer than your average footie player. And as I say, no one’s business.

Attwoodsladyfriend · 12/05/2022 22:06

And tbh this thread is muck raking.

Muck taking??? It's not like he's stopped ???

Everybody is different and has their own reasons. Love, self-esteem, financial, children, security.

Sad to see though, especially if a man has completely betrayed his wife.

But then the same can be said about men who stand by their wives who have betrayed them.

draycentral · 12/05/2022 22:10

Absolutely agree

Not really. The public have a choice to read and comment on it. The press are vultures anyway. Everyone should have a right to privacy. No matter who they are, what their occupation is and how famous/well known they are.

JenniferPlantain · 12/05/2022 22:36

All I know is we can all clearly see what the courtroom artist thinks of Wayne, who she has chosen to passive-aggressively represent here as a geriatric and tiny extra from lord of the rings.

There are things I would put up with pretty easily and things I probably wouldn't. In my case physical infidelity might not be the end of the world, there are things I care about a lot more. There's also the camel's back thing - all LTRs involve putting up with certain things if you're invested in them at all. For a long time it can feel like the good outweighs the bad.

150poundrebate · 13/05/2022 01:23

Monogamy isn’t important to some people. I know this is a hugely unpopular view on MN, but not everyone cares if their partner shags someone else.

There are any number of things I’d consider dealbreakers, but I’d be far more likely to end a relationship because he didn’t pull his weight re domestic labour than I would if he had sex with another woman. Fidelity, in that sense, just isn’t particularly important to me. Maybe it isn’t to them, either.

Have you read about Will & Jada Smith's relationship?

frozendaisy · 13/05/2022 01:35

Look at JFK, Bob Marley, most of the French?

Money and power, plus plenty of time and meeting hundreds of people.

Honestly Rooney is chicken feed in this department.

I thought this thread was going to be about India Knight.
