My son is 6 and I don't get time away from him unless he's in bed. I've been fine on my own but lately I've been so lonely! I really miss having somebody there.
Opinions on inviting somebody I know around when he's asleep? (Not a stranger, I'd never invite a stranger around).

How long have you known him? Tbh why can’t you pay for a babysitter?

jode19 · 18/04/2022 11:07

I simply cannot afford a baby sitter. I don't have any family who can help out either.
My son sleeps from 7:30-7:15 and if he was to wake up then I'd kick my male friend out straight away.

If it is someone known to you, your son will be asleep, it’s not an overnight stay and the male will never be left unsupervised with him at any point then I think it’s fine.

AHungryCaterpillar · 18/04/2022 11:10

Ah I just think that way you will only have someone who comes round for sex whilst your son is in bed, if a booty call is all you are looking for though then go for it, If you was wanting more then it’s a bad pattern to fall into.

Furrbabymama87 · 18/04/2022 11:24

I think it's OK to do, my husband and I had to have our "dates" like this in the early days.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/04/2022 12:20

What if you're son wakes up whilst you're in the middle of having sex, if that's part of your plan? Sorry, but I find that pretty grim.

HeDidWhattt · 18/04/2022 12:22

It’s fine, as long as his asleep and never left in the house alone with your son or left unsupervised together then it’s perfectly fine. You are allowed a life outside of being a parent you know….you are a person too.

I don't mean invite somebody round for sex but if it comes to that, I'd hear my sons bedroom door open and stop immediately.

Look to date while he's in school, it's possible, if you find someone that works shifts for example, then invite them round in the evening once you know them better.

Which wouldn't help anything. You think your son wouldn't realise that there's a stranger in the house and that mum is doing "something?" Kids are far more observant that you might think. They know when something is going on, and a situation like this could be very distressing for a child.

How is that any different to a husband and wife having sex if their child is there?
TheHoleNineYards · 18/04/2022 12:49

Do it OP. You deserve a social life. Longer term, can you negotiate reciprocal babysitting / sleepovers with a friend / parent of DS’s friends?

Aquamarine1029 · 18/04/2022 12:49

Because a husband isn't a complete stranger that the child doesn't even know is in the home? It is entirely different. I thought that would be obvious. Confused

AHungryCaterpillar · 18/04/2022 12:51

Any man coming over Late at night when your child is in bed is expecting sex sorry, that doesn’t mean that’s what you plan or you have to but it’s giving that impression which is why I said if you want more you need to date rather than just having someone over late and night who never takes you out. I agree with a pp date whilst he’s at school, do sleep overs? There are ways.

Don't be ridiculous. It's the same as parents having sex in the house when the kids are asleep

We're talking about if the child wakes up, not if they stay asleep.
