Honestly I don't understand why people entangle themselves with these kind of men and these kind of situations. If something feels odd and you don't like it then go 'ok maybe not for me' and move on.

You should be surrounded by nice, reliable, trustworthy people, not people that make you suspicious. This is really obvious but nobody on here seems to get it???

(Extra kudos for use of "mate")

Yes. Meet me in the subway later.

OP I would do some ‘due diligence’. Most people have a digital footprint.
I would do some digging on social media and 192 directory services, linked in etc. to try and establish whether he lives with anyone

User0610134049 · 12/04/2022 10:50

Or outsource that to me as I love that sort of thing 😂

Inklingpot · 12/04/2022 10:55

I love how MNers incorporate phrases from films and tv to make everything sound dramatic and exciting.

‘Burner phone’
‘Blue-lighted’
‘Hacked my password’
‘Spidey senses’

Thisisworsethananticpated · 12/04/2022 10:57

If they can’t or won’t go in WhatsApp it’s definitely a burner phone

Snoopfroggyfrogg · 12/04/2022 11:02

Not reading the full thread but probably the phone won't ring/ messages won't deliver/ you won't get replies pretty consistently (around work hours/ any commitments). Could be they're a slow replier by nature, so not that in itself, more that you'll get flurries of messages then nothing.

Similarly if they try and use text not WhatsApp. Could be genuine but the vast majority of people have smartphones and WhatsApp these days.

Alternatively, Kik is big with cheaters as I innocently found out years ago.

JustKittenAround · 12/04/2022 14:34
@JustKittenAround I don't use voicemail on my phone and have always had a PAYG sim as there's some great monthly payg bundle deals out there in UK, I must seem like a very dodgy person then 🤣
Well… maybe lol!!!

Just things to look for when communicating with someone…

It's not uncommon advice on the dating threads here to use a throwaway phone for dating and for safety and privacy- initially anyway.

Watchkeys · 12/04/2022 14:57

If anybody has your 'spidey senses tingling', don't spend time with them/thinking about them, unless you like the feeling.

Spend your time with people who give you a good feeling, rather than people you have to figure out like a riddle. What a waste of time.

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 12/04/2022 15:39

@Soupercat another story for another day I reckon 🤦‍♀️
