How long was your longest "bad patch" in your relationship?

I know all relationships go through bad periods but I'm just wondering how long was the longest "bad patch" in yours? And did you eventually get over it and things improved?

9 months
My step daughter moved in and for the first 3 months it was fine
What wasn’t fine is the fact she refused to get a job, clean up after herself and she’d slag me off to her mother every single night-if I went to work I was slagged off,if I had a day off I was slagged off,if I went out I was slagged off,if I dared to cook in my own kitchen,I was slagged off etc
She’d steal, lie, cause trouble and just be the biggest bitch ever to me but be all sweetness and light to her dad who didn’t see what she was doing when he wasn’t around-I’d tell him, she’d lie and she’d be believed while I was told I was the liar
We started rowing and she’d sit at the top of the stairs, live streaming it to her mother who just loves to score points and create trouble
We ended up at relate-and I gave him both barrels
The lady told him that all she needed was a roof over her head, food, heat a bed and clothes-and she was old enough to get a job and start paying her own way
This was just after he’d paid £60 for fake nails she ripped off after 24 hours threw £50+ worth of branded food away as ‘she didn’t like it’ and ‘it’d been opened so I can’t eat the rest’ and she was demanding a £1000 phone which I’d said we couldn’t afford as it was more expensive than both our phones but he was saying she could have it-even though £1000 could have gone towards something we needed for the house
I told him-it’s either her or me
He told me that he wasn’t choosing-so I made plans to just go
(I had a breakdown years ago and was heading down the same path with the stress)
She moved out-her mother told her that she’d buy her whatever she wanted if she did (which ended in her going for me when I asked for my keys back and lying about it saying I’d done it)
It all came out in the wash I’d been telling the truth all along
He looks back with shame about how he behaved and how close he was to losing me-I had her for a few hours at Christmas and we’ll never get on but I can put up with her for his sake for a few hours

4 years ... very tough times (mh related) ... and yes, we got through it and over it, and learned heaps about ourselves and our priorities in the process.

4 years here too. I was ready to walk, DH really wanted to salvage the marriage. So, long story short, we both worked hard at it, reviewed our expectations and drew a line under past hurts. We learned a lot. The relationship is now strong & I would say better than ever.
