Is it stupid to think that being single can break your heart?

I've never had a boyfriend and I used to think that it was ok, because it would happen, but it never, ever has. I'm so tired of being so lonely. It makes me feel like my stomach is aching.

My 30th is at the end of March. I feel like I failed at youth and now I'm failing at being a grown up.

Not to be an ass, but do people really think that the ”people in marriages are lonely too” is helpful? It’s pretty insulting.

I suppose it could be but I was single for a very long time and met an old uni friend after a few years and he was telling me how shit things had got with his live-in girlfriend. They had barely spoken for two years, certainly not done the deed in more like 3.5. To my astonishment I realised I’d had sex more recently than he had! I think when you’re very very single it’s easy to think people with partners have things sewn up.

@hallofweirdfame - another poster asked if you thought you knew why you’d not had a relationship. What’s happened when people have expressed an interest? Or when you’ve met people you are interested in?

No one's ever seemed interested Not that I've ever picked up on.

When I get interested, I blush and get tongue tied.

I agree, I was over 30 when I met my husband my sister in law was over 40 for meeting hubby and first child, don’t give up hope. But don’t let people minimise your sadness x
