Freedom programme - over rated ?

I’ve read so much on it about it , so I’ve just bought the online course.
I’ve skim read but I’m not blown away, feels like it’s stating the obvious . And once you’ve identified ‘your’ type of abuser, then the other types aren’t really relevant ? All it’s telling you is their characteristics- but not much else ?
I’ve bought it as I’m just about to start negotiations re divorce with my estranged husband , who I pinned immediately as ‘the bully’ and to be honest I’m scared , I’ve been gone nearly a year and I’m still paying nearly half my wage to the joint account plus renting etc just to keep the peace.

I’m having a serious wobble at the next stage , because 1) I’ll be selling a house that I renovated and will never be able to have again and 2) he’s a manipulator and I’m scared of him which is ridiculous as I’m a successful professional woman . No young kids , only one is grown and gone .

I suppose I was looking for the magic bullet but this probably doesn’t exist.

There's a new one run by a woman who has been through it all called VOICE. Looks amazing. I've heard some bad things recently about the people who run the freedom programme re bullying etc. I've done the freedom programme and enjoyed it however learnt just as much by reading 'living with the dominator'

@FeckingOvaries you are right , that was DH all over. There’s now way I would do the in person one ( demanding job long hours ) but I felt like the online one has told me nothing I didn’t know already 😞

Yes, massively over rated.

It’s a quick and cheap option, which is why everyone is flogging it constantly.

Hen2018 · 24/01/2022 02:17

If you’re worried and struggling, you need a fantastic solicitor.

Tempnamelady · 24/01/2022 07:03

@Hen2018 I’m glad it isn’t just me who thinks this then.

For me, it was doing it in person and sharing experiences with other survivors that was most beneficial. The content was so so.

FarFromTheMaddeningToddler · 24/01/2022 12:17

I agree with @Colourmeclear, I got so much support from meeting the others on the course and sharing experiences. It’s helped me to listen to red flags earlier on and I’ve since gone on to find a much healthier relationship. Mine was over zoom

PuzzlingRecluse · 24/01/2022 12:18

Hi, I attended in person, it really helped to validate my experience & process things that had happened to me. I don’t think I would have got the same out if it online.
Best wishes and take care of you Flowers
